Christensen Industries has expanded its machining capabilities with the addition of a new Mori Seiki NH5000 4-axis machining center, equipped with the 6CPP pallet pool system.

Christensen Industries is committed to AS9100 Quality manufacturing and the continual improvement of its processes.  The new machine has been in service since September, 2011.

From its commitment to continual improvement, capability expansion and in order to better serve customers needs, Christensen Industries has placed an order for a new Mori Seiki NH5000 horizontal machining center.

“Simply put, we’ve outgrown our machining capabilities and capacity.  Business has been strong and we saw this as an excellent opportunity to grow our current capabilities and also expand into new markets.” Said Vice President of Operations, Rob Christensen.  “Our highly advanced sheet metal capabilities and techniques have opened doors for us worldwide and we felt that it was time to bring our machining to that same level.  Our goal is to not only supply our current customer base with machined parts of the highest level, but also to compete more directly for the machining work available here in Salt Lake City.”

The new machining center will feature the Mori Seiki 6CPP pallet changing system and will allow Christensen Industries to perform more complex and higher production run machining operations.  The new machine is expected to be installed and operational by the end of September 2011.

Representatives from Christensen Industries will be attending Aviation Week MRO Americas and Military Conference and Exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona from April 20-22, 2010.

Christensen Industries has taken delivery of a new Zeiss Contura G2 coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

Along with the delivery of the new CMM machine, Christensen Industries has completely remodeled the QA offices and Quality Inspection area in its shop. A clean, secure, and temperature controlled environment for the new machine, along with better lighting and a cleaner environment for quality inspection as a whole will help to ensure that Christensen Industries continues to excel in delivering the highest quality products available in the industry.

Christensen Industries, who had been working as a third tier supplier on the Boeing C-17 project for several years, has delivered the first of 15 flight sets under a new PO to work directly for CAV Aerospace.

Christensen Industries’ Vice President of Operations, Rob Christensen, had this to say about it: “The Boeing C-17 program has been a great project for us for several years now. We are excited to be working directly for CAV Aerospace and also cultivating a stronger relationship with Boeing as a supplier on such an important aircraft.”

The change from third tier supplier to primary has brought other positive changes with it for Christensen Industries, who is now qualified as a direct supplier to Boeing.

“Our AS9100 and Nadcap certifications are allowing us to play a bigger role in the aerospace industry and are drawing a lot of very positive attention from the Nadcap Prime’s, like Boeing.” said Christensen Industries President Keith Christensen.

Christensen Industries is supplying complex metal components, used in the avionics bays, on the C-17 aircraft. These parts also include several of the new Christensen Industries line of Arinc Trays.

CI has developed and begun the patent process on a quick-release c-clamp device. The clamp’s purpose is to serve the medical industry with a mounting solution, far superior, to the products currently available in the industry.

Christensen Industries is currently negotiating the supply of their quick-release clamps to various medical companies. The designed product is intended for use in mounting configurations for IV pumps as well as other products and mounting brackets used in hospitals.

The United States Department of State has awarded Christensen Industries registration with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR Part 122) for the manufacturing and exportation of defense articles.

A Christensen Industries prototype part, used to help reduce the environmental footprint left during the extraction of Natural Gas, received final approval today. Full scale production of these parts is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
